The Animatrix (Japanese: アニマトリックス, Hepburn: Animatorikkusu) is a 2003 adult animated science fiction anthology film produced by the Wachowskis. It includes nine animated short films, some of which provide backstory for The Matrix film series, while others present side stories. The Animatrix was released by Warner Home Video on June 3, 2003.
